Yuqi's designs are influenced by her enthusiastic personality. She believes that design is inherently flamboyant. As a person with unlimited energy in her daily life and projects, she completes her design process with strong determination. Her year of full-time work experience has helped her designs to gain character and strong implementability.

Historically, Arab Street was a resupply stop for seafaring Hajj pilgrims to rest and connect enroute to Mecca. Resonating with the significance of Singapore's maritime history and the plight of the polluted oceans, the project aims to create a community to help people discover the charm of the oceans and the importance of marine conservation and sustainability.
Surfing is used to complement, attract and spread awareness to youths. A bar with cultural artefacts on display creates a casual setting in which conversations can be had. The concept of waves is not only applied to the visual language and material choices, it also reflects that saving the oceans is a global shared effort.
